The Best Spots for Stargazing in Naramata

Because some things are best enjoyed with the lights off…

As night falls over Naramata, the valley trades golden orchards and vineyards for velvet skies—and the real show begins. Thanks to minimal light pollution and wide-open skies, our little corner of the Okanagan is a stargazer’s dream.

Whether you're an amateur astronomer or just looking to wish on a shooting star, here are a few of our top picks to take it all in:

Manitou Park – Bring a blanket, lie back in the soft sand by the lakeshore, and let the stars shimmer over the water. It's peaceful, dark, and perfect for a romantic night sky moment.

The KVR Trail Lookouts – Head up either Smethhurst Road or Arawana Road to the old train tracks for sweeping views over the valley and an unobstructed dome of stars above. Bonus: you might spot the Milky Way on a clear night.

Chute Lake Road (toward the higher elevations) – For the truly star-struck, venture a little higher. The darker it gets, the brighter the sky—and you’ll be amazed at how much more you can see towards Chute Lake.

Your own backyard – Seriously! Even from a village patio or vineyard-side deck, on a clear night the Naramata sky offers incredible star gazing. Pour a glass of something local, let your eyes adjust, and watch the constellations emerge.

Stay tuned as we explore more ways to enjoy Naramata after dark.
